GM Wipes Out Air Pollution in Brazil, with Equipment Made in USA
General Motors chooses BOXIDIZER™ RTO to treat exhaust from new paint line
La Habra, CALIFORNIA, (originally published on July 26, 2012). General Motors has completed the installation of an Alliance BOXIDIZER™ Regenerative Thermal Oxidizer (RTO) to eliminate Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) air pollution generated from a plastic bumper paint shop in São José dos Campos, São Paulo, Brazil.
The Alliance BOXIDIZER™ was chosen for its compact design, advanced controls, comprehensive standard features, complete pre-assembly and testing. After GM’s agent observed successful testing of their BOXIDIZER™ at Alliance’s La Habra factory, the entire RTO was slid into a single 40’ ISO container and transported to Brazil by way of cargo ship without need for further sea packing.
Upon arrival at the São José dos Campos, the BOXIDIZER™ was removed from the container and installed in a day. After utilities and ductwork were connected to the BOXIDIZER™, an Alliance engineer traveled to the factory in Brazil to commission the RTO and train GM personnel.
